Investigation of the influence of foliar treatments by chemical substances and of sowing in spring and autumn on the contents of macroelements in lettuce of the May queen variety, has shown the following: The contents of all macroelements was higher in the autumn lettuce than in the spring lettuce. The foliar treatment of the lettuce by the applied substances had an influence on the higher contents of the macroelements as compared to the untreated plants, with the exception of calcium the contents of which was highest in the control plants. In relation to the untreated plants, the greatest influence on the increase of the contents of nitrogen (from 39.27 to 42.21 mg), potassium (from 66.78 to 68.22 mg), magnesium (from 3.74 to 3.88 mg/g of the dry substance) was Wuksal, on the increase of the contents of phosphorus (from 4.32 to 4.80 mg) Zineb and on the increase of the contents of sulphur (from 2.62 to 2.68 mg/g of the dry substance) the combination of Sevin - Cineb.
