The kowledge of distribution of root development of defined rootstock as well as that of the effects of individual factors on rooting are of great importance for a quality and rational production. Therefore a study was carried out to establish the properties of the rootstocks of defined media used for vineyard progress in the area of Dalmatia (Yugoslavia). The study showed different percentages of media rooting. The Paulsen 1045 medium showed best rooting, and the highest number of roots was recorded from the Kober 5BB medium. Statistically significant differences between media in structural indicators of quality and quantity were established by the analysis of variance.
