Biology of Cricula trifenestrata (Lepidoptera: Saturnidae), a leaf eating caterpillar of mango

The biology of Cricula trifenestrata was studied in successive four generations. The life cycle was completed in 61 to 125 days. Cricula trifenestrata passed through four generations in a year. The larva had five instars. The gregarious feeding by the fourth and final instar larva caused partial or complete defoliation of the mango trees.
