Influence of potassium on yield and nutrient composition of sugarcane [in Bangladesh]

An experiment was carried out at Sugarcane Research and Training Institute farm to study the effect of potassium on yield and nutrient composition of sugarcane. Potassium application showed no significant response to yield and little response to yield contributing characters. Luxury uptake of potassium was recorded which had no effect on yield. Mixed response was recorded in respect of phosphorus, calcium, magnesium and iron concentration. Insignificant difference was recorded in case of nitrogen concentration in both stalk and leaves. Mixed reaction in case of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium and iron uptake was also recorded due to application of potassium.
