[Effect of growth retardants, [Chlormequat, triapentenol] under four nitrogen fertilization levels in spring rape (Brassica napus L. ssp. oleifera)]
1991
Holmberg F, German Eduardo
It was investigated the effect of growth retardants on spring rape (Brassica napus L. ssp. oleifera), under three levels of nitrogen fertilization, based on biomass growth and plant height, affecting grain and oil yield. The following variables were evaluated: yield components, total seed and oil yield, seed oil contents, mature plant height, date of flowering and endurement of this period, bent and lodging. The growth retardants (Chlormequat and Triapenthenol) reduced plant heigth and seriously cut down lodging, it promoted an early flowering and stretched out this phenologic stage. It was observed a decrease in seed oil contents and, under low nitrogen rates increased total grain yield. This effect was not significant under intermediate and large doses. The nitrogen fertilization increased seed yield, moreover there was an optimum level of fertilization, beyond this point the seed yield decreased. On the other hand, the increase in fertilization promoted a decreased in seed oil content and an increase in lodging. This experiment gives a preliminary information on the effect of growth regulators on rape in Chile
