Physiological aspects and productivity of the 'Lekora' cultivar of tall fescue

The paper presents a review of results obtained in a study of tall fescue (Festuca arundinacea) of the 'Lekora' cultivar, carried out in the field and pot experiments mainly in 1981-1986. The CO2 metabolism of the cultivar has been observed along with physiological aspects of the influence of N nutrition and water deficit. The production capacity of the 'Lekora' cultivar is shown under varying conditions in Slovakia at different numbers of cuts, N fertilization, and cultivation together with other vetch type species. The paper stressed the significance of chlorophyll and the root system in the dry matter production of this cultivar.
