Insecticidal activity of pyrrolizine derivates isolated from Streptomyces griseus

Mixtures of 5,6,7,7a-tetrahydro-3H-pyrrolizin-3-one and 5,6,7,7a-tetrahydro-3H-pyrrolizin-7a-ol-3-one isolated from shaken cultures of Streptomyces griseus exhibited contact killing effects on larvae of Leptinotarsa decemlineata and Aedes aegypti comparable with those of macrotetrolides and the commercial bioinsecticide Bactoculicid, respectively Galleria mellonella (caterpillars), Anagasta kuehniella and Tetranychus urticae were insensitive to this action.
