Waste heat utilization in heat pump in the meat processing plant of Szekszard (Hungary)

The hot water requirement of the meat processing plant (Szekszard, Hungary) was satisfied by the utilization of waste heat in the condenser of the refrigerating equipment. The new system works in 2 stages, and the heat pump is used in the 2nd step. The ammonia heat pump compressor sucks up the hot water from the rising main of the evaporative condenser, and presses the steam in the condenser of the heat pump. Two separate systems are working, one for hard water and the other for soft water. The equipment is fully automated. The result achieved by utilization of the waste heat was in summer 1 kWh electric power, saving 24.3 kWh, while in winter 18.0 kWh heat energy. The rate of return of the investment is not much more one year.
