This experiment was conducted at the Experimental Garden Subang from September until November 1988. A split plot design was used with three replication and 27 treatment combinations. Planting systems were applied as main plots; i,e. broadcasting, planting in rows and planting in holes with triangular system. Number of seeds: i,e. 100, 200, and 300 seeds per m2 and nitrogen application : i.e. once, twice and three times at a total rate of 200 kg N/ha was applied as split plot. Results indicated that planting in triangular system with 200 to 300 seeds per m2 gave the highest yield. A split application of nitrogen in two or three times increased the yield in the second and third harvest.
