Residual level of endosulfan insecticide in soil, soybean by products and possibility of the side effect of residue in livestock

The use of pesticide in agriculture may cause toxicity to non target animals. This paper reports on endosulfan residues in soil, soybean and soybean waste products. Soil samples were taken using a metal pipe with 50 cm length, and 10 cm inside diameter. The samples were taken from 4 different depth levels (0-7, 7-14, 14-21 and 21-28 cm). Soybean and soybean waste products were taken from 9 sampling sites at harvest time. Endosulfan insecticide was used 4 times while the soybean growing. The results show that the residues in soil detectable at depth levels 0-7, 7-14, and 14-21 cm respectively 183.29, 74.54 and 1.79 ppb. It was not detectable on the depth level more than 21 cm. The residues in soybean leaves, and seed shell were 2.237 and 0.8 ppm. This study indicates that residues in soybean waste products were of very high levels, so it has to be treated in order to reduce the residues before it is used as animals feed.
