This research was carried out on Manting sub watershed upper watershed in Malang forest district area, East Java. The purpose of this research was to evaluate the effect of changes of some land use on hydrologic characteristics and erosion of the watershed. The hydrologic characteristics which were evaluated consist of water regime index, runoff coefficient, and unit hydrograph. The hydrologic and erosion characterictics were evaluated based on the data collected since 1987 through 1989. The area of watershed is 459,7 ha; 30,8 ha of which is involved in agroforestry activities since 1988. The previous land use of this agroforestry area was shrub. The change of this land use has increased water regime index, peak discharge and runoff coefficient of the stream. The increase of peak discharge is also followed by the decrease of time to peak, time lag and time base of hydrograph. It was also found that sedimentation was increased by 105,6 percent at the first year and 134,6 percent at the second year after the changing of land use.
