Radiological and microbiological study of infectious arthritis in calves

This study was done in two stages: The 1st stage includes clinical and radiological examination of 34 calves. Bacteriological examination showed that 21 cases were positive and 13 cases were idiopathic (unknown cause). The 2nd stage of this study included experimentally induced arthritis in 12 calves injected intraarticularly. In the Carpal and Hock joints. Using six different bacteria isolated from the calves, it was found that the radiological changes were different with the different types of microorganisms and the period of infection
