To determine the limited areas of Sugi plantations an estimation method of snow pressure was conceived and some factors for the avoidance or reduction of the pressure were executed on the snow-pressure-stress environment in a hive snowy district. Estimation formula of the snow pressures indicated as mean value of a stand was quoted from Haefeli's theory, and was constructed by the factors of snow flow inside and outside of the Sugi stands. Annual maximum snow pressures were calculated by the formula. And these snow pressure were totalized annually from planting year. It was called the cumulative snow pressure. The cumulative snow pressures had close connection with various responses of Sugi trees with the environmental stress, namely number of dead trees damaged annually, and stem bending measured as basal upsweep at 1.2m height and as length of rooted stem. These factors on snow, topography, and tree like as snow height, snow density, period of snow fall, angle of inclinated slope, number of standing trees per ha, tree length or trees height, and diameter at stem base, and drag strength of stump were attended for reduction of injurious responses to the environmental stress
