[Response of late maturing intermediate and early-maturing varieties of wheat to drought in two phenological stages].

This study involved the effect of drought on two phenological stages of 20 different varieties of wheat; 5 early-maturing varieties, 10 with an intermediate growth period, and 5 late-maturing varieties. The phenological stages studied were: from seed emergence to boot (E1) and from boot to physiological maturity (E2). The E1 treatment reduced grain yield, the number of plant and spikes per m2, the number of spikelets and grains per spike, the kernel weight, the leaf area index, the dry mass, the number of days to flowering and plant height. However, the harvest index was increased. The E2 treatment caused a reduction in the kernel weight and growth period. The harvest index also increased in this case. Grain protein content rose in some varieties and dropped in others as a result of the E1 and E2 treatments.

Spanish; Castilian. El efecto de sequia se estudio en dos etapas fenologicas de trigo y en cinco variedades precoces, 10 intermedias y cinco tardias. Las etapas fenologicas estudiadas fueron: de emergencia a embuche (E1) y de embuche a madurez fisiologica (E2). El efecto de E1 en los tres grupos de precocidad fue por un lado reducir el rendimiento de grano, los componentes de rendimiento, numero de plantas y espigas por m2, numero de espiguillas y granos por espiga y peso de mil granos, asi como el indice de area foliar (IAF), materia seca, dias a la floracion y altura de planta; y por otro lado se incremento el indice de cosecha (IC). El tratamiento E2 causo una reduccion en el peso de mil granos y en numero de dias para alcanzar la madurez fisiologica, en tanto que el IC se incremento en algunas variedades y en otras se redujo por efecto de los tratamientos E1 y E2.
