Gibberellin in zinc-deficient dwarf rice Tan-Ginbozu

The growth, zinc content and activity of gibberellin-like substances in dwarf rice Tan-ginbozu were greatly affected by zinc application. Lower fresh weight and zinc content were found in plants grown under zinc-deficient conditions. Resumption of growth and increase in zinc content however, were observed following zinc addition. The activity of gibberellin-like substances in the control plants was below the detectable limit of the methodology used, and was further inhibited in the absence of zinc. Addition of zinc to zinc-deficient plants resulted in marked appearance of gibberellin-like substances.
