The downward tendency shown at present by the Polish economy results from external causes (e.g. breakdown of trade with the post-communist countries) but mainly from internal ones (elimination of subsidies, restrictive monetary and fiscal policy). The agriculture policy should support primarily the processes oriented on effectiveness in agriculture - enhancement of investment propensity of farms due to credit preferences, financial support for the development of technical and social infrastructure in the rural areas
