Silages from meadow grasses in 1000 l hermentic containers were made. The fresh grass (20 percent of dry matter), wilted grass (35 percent of dry matter) or dry grass (64 percent of dry matter) was ensiled. The highest beta-carotene content in fresh grass silage as well as that lowest in dry grass silage was stated. An increase in dry matter content improved the silage quality
