The biological progress in sugar beet in the last two decades 1966-85 had its cause in changes in the assortment of cultivars which were differentiated in the aspect of their genetic and useful characteristics. This progress was characterized by initial decrease of yield but accompanied by high percent of sugar percent in roots.
