Utilization of results of inorganic nitrogen content in soil for calculation of nitrogen doses for tobacco

In 1987-1989 on sandy-loamy brown soil the utilization of inorganic soil nitrogen in the depth 0-0.6 m was studied to calculate the needed nitrogen dose for the Virginia tobacco variety NC-744. The highest crop of dry leaves was reached at the rate calculated according to the equation Nz = Npu(Nan x 9 x 0.6) where Nz is a nitrogen fertilizer rate for tobacco (kg.ha-1), Npu is an amount of nitrogen needed for the planned yield (in kg.ha-1) and Nan is the content of organic nitrogen in soil in depth 0-0.6 m (mg.ha-1).
