Association of phenolase activity with some quantitative characters in wheat

118 mutant lines (M6) of C306 and the parent C306 variety of wheat were analysed for phenolase activity. Mutants showed a wide spectrum of variability i.e., faint brown, brown, deep brown and black, in phenolase activity tests. X**2 tests of independence indicated that the phenolase activity was associated with plant height and a number of spikelets spike**-1.
