Longterm effect of urea, 15-15-15 and compost fertilizer and their combination on yield of young ear corn

Uthong 1 baby corn variety was grown on heavy clay soil with regular irrigation. The fertilizer application systems were operated for crop growth at four times a year and the experiment was carried out for three years. The third and the forth growing series indicated lower yield than that of the first and the second growing time, due to heavy rain fall and plant diseases. Urea application at 20 kg/rai of N alone at each planting or the alternative method of applying urea at the same rate at the first planting and the less of series. Fertilizer grade 15-15-15 applied at 133 kg/rai indicated satisfactory yield, however, statistical analysis revealed no significant difference from the other treatment. All the treatments were repeated throughout three years assignment. The system of such fertilizer application pattern provided the appropriate choices to farmer. Their selection was due to the accordance with the cost of investment and the proper farmer practices as well as the ease of pattern. However, the ear number was directly proportional to the ear weight. High soil phosphorus content in nature or from their residue may result in lower yield unless considerable amounts of nitrogen were applied
