Eleven corn varieties with grain type ranging from flint to dent were evaluated for grain yield performance and grain aflatoxin contamination at The National Corn and Sorghum Research Center during early rainy season of 1987. KS 4 variety produced the highest grain yield and the lowest grain yield was recorded for Tuxpeno variety. Grain aflatoxin contamination increased with increasing storage duration and seed moisture content. In spite of lacking firm supporting evidence, there was a tendency that grain aflatoxin contamination was greater for the dent corn than those of flint and semiflint types. However, no difference in grain aflatoxin contamination could be detected between flint and semiflint grain types.
