The fixation of the majority of the reactive dyes in printing is obtained by applying saturated steam. Thermofixation technique is also employed where dyes of high diffusion rate are used. Arrangement of proper steaming or baking facilities in the printing industries, particularly in the small print-works, is complicated and expensive. In the present investigation several methods of printing avoiding steaming or baking stage were compared on jute and cotton fabrics. Satisfactory fixation of reactive dyes, both on jute and cotton fabrics was achieved.
