Wood decay fungi on forest trees and timbers of Bangladesh

A qualitative survey on wood decay fungi on forest trees and timbers of Bangladesh has been carried out since 1969. A total of 1887 specimens of wood decay fungi were collected from 104 host trees and 30 unidentified logs. Out of these 67 species under 28 genera were identified. Collected specimens were cultured on locally developed 4% sugarcane gur agar medium. The present paper provides a list of wood decaying fungi of Bangladesh so far identified, their hosts in which they caused decay and the types of decay they resulted.
