Isd. 1.8 is a mid-maturing variety of sugarcane, developed from the cross Co.631 x B.O.22 in 1974, and released in 1988. The genotype was first selected from original seedlings in 1976 and was tested in different stages. Finally the clone was evaluated in Zonal yield Trial (ZYT) at six agro-ecological zones for three consecutive years. The variety was found superior to Isd.16 and Isd.2/54 in height, number of millable cane/ha, cane yield (plant and ratoon) and sugar yield/ha. On the other hand, the variety was found better to Isd. 16 in germination and equal to Isd, 2/54 in girth and recoverable sucrose content.
