Postnatal growth of renal veins in calves (Bos taurus) [USSR]
1992
Islam, M.N. | Khrustaleva, I.V.
The postnatal growth of renal veins of 10 female calves was studied from newborn to 9 months of age. The length and diameter of the renal veins were detailed. With the increase of age the length and diameter of the renal veins were increased. Owing to the position of the abdominal aorta on the left side and caudal vena cava on the right side of the median plane in the sublumbar region the left renal vein was longer that the right one. The diameter of the left renal vein was also wider than the right one. The length of the renal veins was increased rapidly from 4 to 9 months of age than from birth to 4 months. The diameter of the renal veins however, was increased rapidly from birth to 4 months than from 4 to 9 months of age.
