Local sesame populations and introduced shattering and nonshattering lines were evaluated during 1988-92. Two distinct types of Cyprus sesame were selected according to the shape of capsules, having single capsule or double capsule. The yield of introductions of determinate growth habit and nonshattering capsules gave lower yields than the shattering local or introduced lines.
