Wheat mildew populations in the FRG and neighbouring regions, 1986-1988: some aspects of their change [powdery mildew]

The population structure of the wheat powdery mildew has been monitored in a European program based at Weihenstephan since 1986. Representative random samples have been collected from different mildew populations with a jet spore trap on the roof of a car. Single colony isolates have been analysed with regard to their virulence and fungicide sensitivity. From 1986 to 1988 the virulence situation generally did not change dramatically. Fungicide sensitivity towards triadimenol showed noticeable changes with obvious regional differences. In contrast sensitivity towards fenpropimorph remained on its level from 1987 to 1988 and relatively small regional differences were observed
