According to our observations, external parasites of animals are widely spread in Estonia. Unfortunately, in our conditions use of imported preparations to control these parasites is limited due to their high prices. The realization that arthropods moulting and metamorphosis are controlled by juvenile hormones led researches to the suggestion that such chemicals might be used both against plant pests and animal parasites. To control the parasites such as Sarcoptes suis, Ctenocephalides canis et felis, Mallophaga sp., Melophagus ovinus and Psoroptes cuniculi, our investigations were made to measure the effect of some juvenile hormone preparations. The juvenoids were prepared at the Estonian Institute of Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences. The following compounds which have reported to have juvenile hormone effects in some insect species were applied in our trials: efotrin, efoksen, efoksen 2, 3434E and T-634
