Visual assessment of herbicide field performance

Herbicide effectiveness and selectivity in field trials are often visually assessed and scored on an appropriate scoring system. Visual assessment is a convenient method which can be very reliable if some conditions are met while designing and establishing the experiment, taking observations and processing the data. These conditions are briefly reviewed along with some widely used scoring systems.
