Method to eliminate environment effects in on-farm performance tested pigs

The testing method used in the on-farm performance test of pigs takes into account neither genetic characteristics of the single populations nor environmental effects working in the test period. It is therefore expedient to apply such a procedure basing on linear regression analysis, which takes into account environmental effects influencing performances of the evaluated examination group. The proposed calculation takes as a basis the result of the last three months of at least 150 animals and corrects existing performances according to the moving regression "b" value. The performance of the animals corrected in this way indicate both advantages and disadvantages, which are attributable to genetic origins, in comparison to the average of the same period. The production level of the last 12 months shows the realized genetic ability of the population. Thus the genetic ability valued in the above may be expressed in a combined manner. Forming "b" values moving on the present stage of development level of the computer technique, and calculating moving averages of 3 and 12 months, are matters of simple arithmetic and can be solved on each farm
