20 years of experiences in extension service are summarized. The feed extension service must be based on the thorough knowledge of the natural endowments (influence of soil types on feed quality). The desired mineral substance content can be secured through rational combination of producible plant species. To secure desired feed composition, rational manuring is also necessary. Providing a so-called "safety surplus" from mineral substances is not expedient, because it can sometimes be harmful
