Study on the environmental condition of the fishing ground of tiger prawn broodstock in Jembrana, Bali (Indonesia)

The main objective of this investigation was to find out the information on the environmental condition of the fishing ground of tiger prawn in Jembrana Bali. The observation was conducted twice a month from April 1990 to March 1991. Environmental parameters of adult prawn, kind of macro benthos and catch number of prawn were recorded. The result of the investigation showed that fishing ground of tiger prawn was 8.5-30 m in depth and the bottom of the sea consisted of mud and sand. In this study it is not only tiger prawn that was caught but also that of other genera of shrimp. The kinds of macro benthos was crustaceans, molluscs, bivalves, polychaetes and so on. Polychaetes was the most dominant among macro benthos. The information of environmental conditions found in the present study, could be as an indicator for the potency of the natural broodstock of tiger prawn
