Recent citrus development : hindrances, challenges, and prospects
1991
Soeroyo, R.
Citrus is one of the fruit commodities which has high nutritional value and has an important place both in domestic and international markets. In Pelita V (Five-Year Plan), efforts focused on citrus development will continue to be increased in line with the policy of fruit development and commercially viable farming system or agribusiness. This pattern will be carried out in all available agricultural areas in Indonesia and will include estate areas level V, or unexploited areas, accounting for thousands of hectares scattered over Java, Sumatra, Bali, NTB, Kalimantan, Sulawesi and Maluku. At present, most citrus farming systems are still operated in the traditional way with limited cultivation technology and in small scattered areas. This is one of the causes of low citrus production and poor fruit quality in Indonesia
