Growth of milkfish on the integrated farming with chicken
1990
Tahe, S. (Balai Penelitian Perikanan Budidaya PAntai, Maros (Indonesia))
The aim of the research was study the effect of integrated farming with chicken to the net product (growth) and the deviations in taste (off-flavor) of milkfish meat. Six fish ponds of 0.015 ha in size were used in this research. Fifty layers were used as supplier of nutrients (chicken dropping). The first two chicken cages were filled with 10 chickens/0.015 ha (667 chicken/ha). The two other chicken cages were filled with 15 chicken/0.015 ha (1.000 chicken/ha), each pond was stocked with milkfish (average weight 0.2 g) with density of 45 fish/0.015 ha (3.000 fish/ha). Result of the research showed that through its waste, chicken influenced the average increase of net product of fish, and the fish meat is still edible (no off-flavor) (P0.05), however, the smallest difference occurred in the density of 10 chicken (667 chicken/ha) while the density of 15 chicken (1.000 chicken/ha) gave no significant difference (P0.05) to the net of fish.
