Accumulative temperature and content of inorganic component were investigated in relation to citric acid accumulation, and control of time of maturity by topdressing at fruit developmental stage was attempted. There was a close relation between the days from full bloom to reaching 2,000mg/100gFW citric acid content (Y) and the days from first February to full bloom (X), and this relation showed Y = -0.588X + 112,988. Nitrogen content in leaf had a close and negative relation to citric acid content in mature fruit flesh, whereas potassium had a positive relation. Topdressing of nitrogen at the fruit developmental stage increased nitrogen content in leaf and inhibited accumulation of citric acid in fruit flesh
