The given research is devoted to the utilization of sewage sludge for soil improvement. The chemical composition of sewage sludge from Riga sewage treatment plant has been analized and the limits of its use for soil improvement have been determined. The risk level of heavy metal content in soil has been calculated for each single heavy metal using the method worked out in Holland. The average application rates of sewage sludge were determined considering the heavy metal content in sewage. The data of the analyses and calculations are given in tables.
