Future conception of the development of the Latvian cattle industry

In the given research the importance and the future prospects of beef and dairy cattle production are analized. The productivity and other characteristics of the popular Latvian Brown breed are discussed, its competitive potential is compared with that of other well-known breeds. The crossbreeding experiments are described stressing their importance for the development and improvement of the Latvian breed. The economic aspects of the problem are also considered.
