[Early spring hatching of chickens as the main condition for improvement of a flock's productivity and pedigree quality]

The results of the experiment show that: 1) The chicks born in early spring had the most favourable conditions for growth and the forming of the young organism. 2) Chicks hatched in March manifested best growth and development, the highest percentage of bred chicks, good quick maturity and higher productivity than the chicks of other groups. 3) The live weight of the chicks hatched in March were 713 grams at the 60 days of age. The live weight of the chicks hatched in April made up 73.3 per cent, May 75.3 per cent, August 71.9 per cent, as compared with chicks hatching in March. 4) The survival of young birds in the March group was 94 per cent, April 94.0, May 95.5, August 89.5 per cent to 150 days old. 5) The laying hens of the March group gave 150.7 eggs, April 116.4, May 126.7 and August 99.6 eggs during the first productivity year. 6) The egg weight of those hatched in March was 8 grams, on April 53.4 on May 53.4 on August 53.5 grams. 7) The layers surviving in the March group was 94.0, April 92.3, May 92.4, August 64.6 percent. 8) March is the most suitable time-limit for hatching chicks for breeding in the central region of Mongolia
