[The effective ration for laying hens]

The partial substitution of dried feeds of animal origin in the diets of layers was studied. Varying percentages of mixed feed of the mash were substituted by peas. The greatest effect was obtained when the mash contained 13 per cent peas. The layers had 1700 grams of live weight and gave 183 eggs from 180-515 days. The ration with 13 per cent peas provided an average increase in egg production of 13.3 per cent, the egg weight also increased by 1.5 per cent, viability by 2 per cent and reproductive ability by 2.6-3.6 per cent compared with other groups
