[Results of some investigations on yak bull semen]

The deep freezing technology and physiological peculiarity of yak bull semen was studied in 1988-1990. The volume of ejaculates and the number of spermatozoa of yak were lower than for bulls of other breeds. Physiological indices of yak sperm (resistance, per cent of patho sperm, speed of change of colour) were similar to the semen of other breeds. The results from deep freezing yak bull semen demonstrate that the diluent for other bull semen can be used. It is concluded that for best quality of deep frozen semen, the yak bulls should be supplied with high digestable feeding and should be stalled. The conception rate of donors inseminated by the deep frozen semen was 41,8, the rate of morphologically normal embryos was 44,8 and pregnancy rate was 29,4-50,0.
