[Limit of yield to divide the two subpopulations of the DRIS standards for pecan tree]

There is a hypothesis about that the limit of yield to divide a data base in two subpopulations (low and high yield) to generate the DRIS norms is not so critical provided that the data collected present a normal distribution. The resulting mean (X) value or norm would be always the same. This hypothesis was tested on pecan tree. The DRIS norms on 484 observations of leaf analysis and yield were divided according to six limits of yield: 25, 35, 40, 50, 60 and 70 kg tree-1 to produce six groups of data each one with two subpopulations. The results indicated that these limits of yield were not so critical. Although the values of the DRIS norms (X) varied, it was possible to corroborate their validity to predict the behaviour of two experiments. DRIS norms created by using a high limit of yield (60 kg tree-1) were considered to be the best to divide the two subpopulations of pecan tree; this yield limit allocated an 11.8 (percent) of the observations of high yield class as recommended.

Existe la hipotesis de que el limite de rendimiento para dividir las dos subpoblaciones (de bajo y alto rendimiento), para generar las normas DRIS, no es critico, siempre y cuando los datos presenten una distribucion normal, ya que el valor de la media (X) o norma, siempre es el mismo. Se realizo un estudio para comprobar esta hipotesis en nogal pecanero. Se generaron seis conjuntos de normas DRIS a partir de una base de datos de 484 observaciones de analisis foliar y rendimiento. Para ello se dividio esta poblacion seis veces en dos subpoblaciones tomando como limite, en cada caso, los siguientes rendimientos: 25, 35, 40, 50, 60 y 70 kg arbol-1. Los resultados indican que estos limites de rendimiento, no fueron criticos, ya que aunque los valores de las normas DRIS (X) variaron, se confirmo su validez, al predecir el comportamiento de dos experimentos. Sin embargo, se establece que las mejores normas DRIS para nogal pecanero, son las que tienen un limite alto de rendimiento, para dividir las dos subpoblaciones (60 kg arbol-1), este limite ubica a un 11.8 (porciento) de observaciones como de alto rendimiento, valor cercano al recomendado para este tipo de trabajo.
