Fungicidal property of tagetes crude extract against 10 fungal plant pathogens

Result of in vitro evaluation showed that tagetes crude extract (TCE) was as effective as Maneb in inhibiting the growth of Curvularia lunata and Rhizopus stolonifer. However, results based on arbitrary rating scale showed that TCE was as effective as Maneb in inhibiting mycelial growth of Botryodiplodia theobromae, Helminthosporium maydis, Sclerotium rolfsii, and R. stolonifer. In vivo evaluation revealed that TCE exhibited a very effective (VE) protectant action against B. theobromae, R. stolonifer, S. rolfsii, and H. maydis and comparable to Maneb which also showed similar action on all four pathogens. Curative application of TCE showed moderately effective action against B. theobromae, R. stolonifer, and S. rolfsii compared to very effective action of Maneb while not effective action of TCE was observed on the other seven test pathogens
