This study was conducted to determine the effect of galiang tuber meal as substitute for corn on the laying and economic performance of layers. Sixty layers were fed with the experimental diets containing the different amounts of galiang tuber meal, such as 10, 20, 30 percent and the control ration without the tuber meal. The study indicated that the layers fed with diets of galiang tuber meal were comparable with the control group on the bases of egg production rate, egg mass, eggshell percentage, egg quality as well as feed efficiency. Layers fed with 30 percent galiang tuber meal produced significantly heavier eggs than those in the control. The rest of the galiang-treated layers were comparable with those in the control group. On the percentage distribution of classified eggs, the birds treated with galiang tuber meal produced more extra large than those in the control. The eggshell thickness from layers with galiang tuber meal was generally comparable with the control. Lesser feed consumption was noted in layers fed with galiang tuber meal than that in the control. On the economic standpoint, however, layers fed with diets of 10 and 20 percent galiang tuber meal were found to have higher return than those in the control. Therefore, 10 up to 20 percent level of galiang tuber meal could safely and profitably substitute for yellow corn in layer diet
