Studies on 312 Black-and-White cows as well as on different genotypes of Holstein-Friesian crossbred ones in 3 herds were carried out. Data of milk yield and composition during 10 months of lactation were analysed. The systematic decrease of milk yield since the first month after calving irrespective of the cow genotype and herd was stated. No significant effect of lactation month on milk protein, fat, lactose and dry matter content was observed
