Metabolism and milk production in cows fed glucose syrup and urea

An experiment on lactating Friesian cows fed a diet containing a maize silage and glucose syrup (GS) and the urea (U) in 1:0.04 ratio was carried out. A non-significant effect of GS+U diet on milk yield and composition as well as on the rate of microbial protein synthesis in the rumen of cows was stated. No significant higher lactic and butyric acid content in rumen of cows given GS+U than in control ones was observed
