Comparison of the productivity of nine varieties of orchard grass

Experiments with varieties of orchard grass were conducted in the years 1984-86. Productivity, expressed as the yield dry matter and total protein, along with the distribution of the crops of nine varieties were studied. Small differences in the yearly crops, were found among the compared varieties but the distribution of the crops during vegetation was different. The dry matter and the total protein yields increased when dose of nitrogen was increased from 150 to 300 kg N/ha. However, the efficiency of fertilization was rather low, especially in the case of succeeding regrowths, and because of deficiency in rainfall
