The period 1986-90 was characterized by an accelerated movement of cultivars in testings and in the register as well as by an increased varietal progress. The seed reproduction allowed to transmit quickly new cultivars to production, despite reduction of the plantation area. The new cultivars spread quickly in state farms giving thus high production results, whereas on private farms the spreading rate of the varietal progress was much slower and the production results were worse
