The density of shoots per 1 sq. m was significantly different depending on year, sowing terms and cuts. The best results were obtained in the first two years of alfalfa utilization, at sowing in spring and in the first cut. Sowing rates varying within 6-21 kg seeds per hectare did not cause any significant differences in the number of alfalfa shoots in spring sowing, as the self-regulation of the plant stand density occurred.
