Fine structure changes of gill tissues of carp cultured in cages under termal effluents
1992
Voronin, V.N. | Balabanova, L.V. | Matej, V.E.
Visual seen white borders and swelling of gill filaments when studied with electron microscope show that these symptoms are caused by mass infiltration of tissue with granulocites, mostly basofiles, rarely eozinofiles. Spaces between cells become larger and mucus. Production increases but the shape of respiratory cells is unchanged. It is proposed that these changes are caused by chronic ammonia toxicosis
